Nowadays, pressures of work and family responsibilities often means that we cocoon ourselves in our own little world, striving to make provision for our own needs. Looking after ourselves and our families is of course, quite rightly, a natural thing for us to do. However, it can lead to us being impervious to the poverty and dire situations that people around the world face in their daily lives.

Collectively, we can make a real difference in alleviating this suffering and depravation and SPICMA donors have shown this, time and again, by supporting our various projects and appeals.

We have helped communities to be self sufficient in farming and livestock management. We have supported a number of educational programmes; the latest being to equip St Theresa's School in Uganda with ten computers. Everybody has a right to clean drinking water and in this regard SPICMA has been involved in sinking twenty boreholes in Kotido diocese, Uganda. In the scale of things, these are small steps but they make an enormous difference to the quality of life for these communities.

When the Tsunami hit Sri Lanka and floods devastated huge areas in India and Pakistan, SPICMA was at the forefront in responding to pleas for help.
