Madera Community Grace of God
Poultry Farm
Fr Bernard Phelan was
approached to provide help for the construction of a poultry farm for the
Madera community in Northern Soroti. Following examination of the plans and
future management of the project, funding was approved and building of the
Grace of God Poultry Farm commenced in October 2005. Work was completed in
January 2006 and the farm is providing, through the sale of eggs and
poultry, a regular income for the Madera community and displaced people of Soroti. The total cost of the project was SHS 12,628,400 (Ugandan
Shillings). Considering the stability, security and benefits that have been
brought to so many people, the capital outlay has been a worthwhile
investment. Furthermore, there has been such high demand for their produce
that the community has been encouraged to build a second farm. The people of
Madera convey their heartfelt thanks to all the benefactors who transformed
a dream into reality and which has made such an enormous difference to their
quality of life. |
