A small Catholic organization in Jinja, Uganda who work closely with Mill Hill Missionaries, is seeking help to assist some of the poorest people in that area. Part of that work is helping AIDS orphans who, to survive, have resorted to prostitution as a means of earning a living. Over the past year WIN have launched a scheme to send 32 of these girls on a trial project to the Polytechnic at Kakira to train them in catering skills.

The girls, once trained, can work in hotels in Jinja which has a growing tourist industry. The first 32 have finished their training and have started work. However, because the Polytechnic at Kakirais is some distance away, it has proved unnecessarily expensive to maintain support of these girls. As soon as the money is available we will purchase a property in Njeru near Jinja that is suitable to convert to a Training Hotel School. It would operate as a hotel and therefore be self-funding as there are very few hotels in Njeru. The teachers themselves, like the girls they teach, are also based in Jinja so it would be both time and cost effective. The costs of this important project to help many more girls get out of prostitution in Jinja is £30,000.00
Can you help please?
